What's going on in December?
We should probably write something here about how December is a busy month in the garden with loads of jobs to do, stuff to get prepped for next Spring etc. However, the reality is December is the month to spend with friends and family, eating the fruits of your labour that you have grown and stored thanks to The Grow Up. You’re welcome!
This year you’ve probably got lots of gifts you can give that are based on the things you’ve grown and the ideas we’ve given you. Jams, Pickles and Chutneys – they all make perfect presents.
There is still winter veg to harvest if you’ve been growing it, but more importantly just relax and enjoy the holiday season.
The weather in December
Coming as no surprise to anyone, December continues to be cold. If you want to get outside in the garden, then best wait for one of the sporadic sunny days to do so. These can be clear and crisp, and actually provide a lovely environment to finish those last bits off.
Alternatively, why not tick off some of your planning jobs from the comfort of indoors on those chilly days.
Main things to accomplish
As we’ve said above – don’t stress about getting too much done in December. Make sure you’re harvesting all of your veg for Christmas lunch, and tending to any critical stuff that will die otherwise.
Try to stay warm inside, but remember to keep turning your compost and leave one of your home grown carrots out for Randolph.
Happy Christmas from The Grow Up!
